Waterland Different Cropping Pattern
1. Intercropping
Intercropping: Inter cropping pattern (monoculture)- is done in the space between staple crop of plantation or forestry trees when the staple plant is still young or not productive yet. Such as corn, peanut, soybean, etc in Waterland area
2. Plant Rotation
Plant Rotation: plant pattern is done in rotation way immediately after the first plant harvested. For example is paddy (rice plant), soybean, corn and peanut. In the rainy season paddy is planted and after that continue to plant soybean. It also can be done for peanut plant then continue to corn plant. By using this way an amount of fertilizers can be minimized.
3. Insert Cropping
Insert Cropping: Cropping pattern by inserting one or several other types of crops than staple crops (during the planting of nearly harvest). Example: corn inserted peanuts, before corn harvest time bean has planted. Can also be done with chili and soy crops. When the chili is almost harvest, soybean plants began to be planted.
4. Multi culture
Multi culture: cultivation is done by planting several kinds of plant at the same time. For example is Up Land Rice (Paddy Gogo) and corn among Jatropha. In this plant pattern, the disadvantage risk caused by the crop failure is low. If the price of one commodity is low, loss can be minimized by other commodity harvest.
